1. What kind of books or texts are the people reading?
Some people are reading novels, one of them is reading a text (we do not know exactly the kind of text) using the Tablet and another one is reading the newspaper.
2. Did they choose the books themselves or did someone else choose for them?
It seems that all of them except the children in the fourth picture, who are reading the same book together, are reading by pleasure so they could have chosen their books.
3. Describe how they might be feeling at the moment and give reasons.
The people at the library seem to be enjoying reading peacefully so they could be calm.
It will also depend on the kind of book they are reading. If they are reading a novel with policemen and murderers, they could be nervous, excited, scared, etc.
4. Focus on one or two of the photos and say how they relate to your own experience as a reader in L1 (Spanish) and L2 (English or another foreign language).
L1/L2: My experience is related to the first and fourth pictures.
The first picture makes me feel relax while reading and reminds me to pleasant moments enjoying reading, but the fourth one makes me feel a little anxious because it reminds me when I had to read a book I was not interested in and I could not but I had to finish the book.
Think about the following things:
- What texts do you enjoy reading in each language that you speak?
L1: I love to read mystery novels which make me travel away.
L2: I do not usually read novels. I prefer to read articles related to my proffesion.
- Do you choose the same kind of texts or do you read very different things depending on the language? What factors determine your choice?
I do not read the same in both languages because I have not the same skill while I read in L1 or in L2.
- In what format do you read (paper, e-reader, online etc.)?
I still prefer to read in paper.
- When do you read?
I read every day because of my proffesion but I do not read novels because I need to have time. That means I read for pleasure (novels) on holidays.
